If you're in a hurry...there's FT2

Volunteer testers sought - read the full poop here.

Personally, I can't get past all the pop-up ads and want nothing to do with providing my Whatsapp contact info in order to be in the loop.

UPDATE: New official FT2 page here

  1. Interesting. Amateur radio has something for everyone...this is not for me. Long live CW.

  2. a great stylistic technical exercise. 150 Hz bandwidth, 10 seconds. ok but I propose this: you can "win" your dxcc at 200 entities if you're working mixed with cw, phone, ftXXX.
Think to all the people who gained a 5BDXCC cw or phone...

  3. Yep, another way to practice the hobby. I don't begrudge those for whom it appeals and I appreciate the innovation behind it. I don't know what misfiring of synapses accounts for my fixation with CW but I continue to embrace the fixation. Meanwhile, another CW-only rig is en route to my QTH as we speak...

    1. Oh! Now I'm anxiously waiting for the report about the new rig.

I also appreciate the innovation and technical advances, and if it gets more people on the air that's a net positive. If the innovative digital modes cause less activity on SSB and CW then my opinions become more negative.

I don't pay attention so much to the "percent of contacts" stats that are so often touted, but am more concerned about total volume and have admittedly not done any research on the subject. I just continue to use and have fun with SSB and CW.
