I had no idea when I worked Eugene so many years ago how rare his country would become on the airwaves. Second only to P5.

It was half past midnight local time for me and 15 meters was open to Central Asia. At the time, I thought that was the norm - and for then, it was.

  1. All amateurradio activities from Turkmenistan are prohibited since 2006. So unfortunate since I'm on HF amateurradio bands since that year. I have this DXCC confirmed on 11m in the nineties. 73, Bas

    1. That's quite amazing to have gotten Turkmenistan on CB from the Netherlands! I doubt many can claim to have done that.

    2. You would be amazed to know how many have over 300 DXCC confirmed on CB. I managed to have 250 confirmed over a timespan of about 20 years before I got my license and started all over again on the HAM bands. You know, CB DX is illigal in most countries. You can't get a license. So most of the activities are illigal. But many hobbyists are willing to take the risk. There are even HAMradio DXpeditions that sometimes activate a 11m station as well. When not in the 11m DX community you'll never know. 73, Bas

    3. I had a CB for years (mid 70's) before getting into ham radio but never worked or heard any DX. They were AM-only though, no SSB, so that's probably the reason. No, I had no idea that some DXpeditions also operate 11 meters. Do the Karens approve?!

    4. Officially no one approves a CB DXpedition. Although many CBers find it valuable when the biggest CB DX group of the world. the "Alfa Tango" group does get evidence and approves a DXpedition. When it occurs that a HAMradio DXpedition does activate 11m it most times is because all DXpedition members have been or are still active on 11m DX. It might be interesting to make my own blog post about this topic....if someone is interested? 73, Bas

    5. I'd like to read such a post. Are you still active as an 11m DXer?
