ATNO #328 - Macao XX9D - finally!

Despite being on the air for almost two weeks I was never able to hear XX9D on any band - until this morning.

Their signal via long-path into Texas was weak but copiable beginning about 20 minutes prior to the start of this video when I began hearing them on my Apache Labs QRP rig. I quickly switched to the Flex/KPA500 and worked them after a few minutes.

Their signal strength peaked at the point where this video begins and then slowly faded completely away over the next 5 minutes.

At no point did I have good copy on those calling them - other W5 stations, mostly - so it was difficult to determine where to place my transmit VFO.

  1. Hello John, congrats! Worked him as well this morning on 17m FT8 F/H mode. Was quite easy actually. 73, Bas

    1. Congrats Bas! I may have worked him on 17m FT8 as well but it may have been a pirate - he was very strong, very few callers and was not in the F/H mode.
