When does a planned POTA activation result in a lack of radio activity? In my case, when the area is surrounded in astounding natural beauty.
Three days ago I drove up to North Carolina for a few days of chasing waterfalls and activating Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests.
I had two QRP rigs and two drones. The QRP rigs never saw the light of day - hiking and drone videography filled my time and I plan to return in the fall, for these and other waterfalls.
Maybe I'll bring a radio; maybe not.
North Carolina's waterfalls have been photographed extensively by all levels of photographers but I've lately gotten interested in using my drones, not as R/C aircraft with a camera onboard, but as airborne cameras that fly.
Potato, patahto. Violin, fiddle.
The falls: Dry Falls, Cullasaja Falls, Whitewater Falls.
The drones: Mini 4 Pro, Avata 2.

Nice work. Really enjoyed watching that. 73 de Ken N0HRL
ReplyDeleteThanks Ken - there's something very relaxing about waterfalls but flying close to them is a bit unnerving at moments!

Nice shooting John! The opening sequence along the river looks difficult but turned out awesome.

Yep, I breathed a sigh of relief as I was driving home with all gear intact and not waterlogged!
