1) FX-4CR update, 2) new arrival and 3) my next rig?

First, an update from Yu BG2FX on his upcoming FX-4CR transceiver:

January 5th, 2023

I am very sorry to keep you all waiting.

The FX-4CR is in production and soldering will be complete in about a week, however, the Chinese new year holiday (22 Jan) may affect timing. I will begin assembly as soon as parts arrive.

I have been informed that express shipping will resume January 28th and units will ship as soon as I am able. Fortunately, COVID restrictions which caused many delays have been significantly reduced. Thank you all for your patience!

Note that this update is specifically for the 20-watt FX-4CR, not the QRP FX-4L. I have the 'CR on pre-order and am looking forward to its arrival.

.

In the meantime, I have a new-to-me Ten-Tec Eagle to keep me company. More on this later, including the Why?

.

And, speaking of Ten-Tec: if anyone has an excellent-condition Argonaut V (516) they'd be interested in selling, I'd love to hear from you.

    2. Waiting on the FX-4L here. Hopefully it is worth the wait. The Eagle is a fine radio.
If yours has optional filters, make sure they are plugged in correctly. They can be installed backwards which causes ghosting problems. It took me a while to find that problem.

    3. Yes, I opened it up as soon as I received it. The 600Hz filter is correctly installed. I've read that the 300Hz filter reduces the signal strength by 3dB so I'll leave things as they are.

Hopefully the update from BG2FX includes the FX-4CR as well.

      John
