Tom SQ9FVE releases lastest version of WSJT-Z

If you prefer the superior (and numerous) filtering options and QRZ.com look-ups available in Tom's modification of WSJT-X you'll be pleased to know that WSJT-Z MOD v0.3.4 is now available.

In addition to the above-mentioned attributes, WSJT-Z is full-auto selectable. Sort of like the M16 I shot once upon a time in the middle of the Indian Ocean. This version also incorporates the latest WSJT-X's 3-pass decoding scheme.

I initially tried WSJT-Z for the automated aspects but it is the filtering options that keep me using it. They really do make the switch from -X worth it as they allow a high degree of customization. I go so far as to say that if you like FT8 and are using WSJT-X, you're using a handicapped product due to its comparative limitations.

WSJT-Z MOD v0.3.4 can be downloaded here. A Groups.io forum is here.

  1. Hi I wonder if installing it effects WSJT-X or no. Is there a way to show all countries and no only that calling cq? 73

    1. WSJT-Z needs to be installed to a separate directory if you want to continue using WSJT-X. If you don't specify another directory, it will install over WSJT-X.

  2. Tnx, letting me know John. I've been using WSJT-Z old version during the PE75FREE event in a SO2R configuration (NO2R actually, think about that ;-) new section ! ). It worked very wel for about 4-5 hours then lost track not decoding the own SES call. I don't consider that as a big issue and doubt anyone has tried the auto CQ mode for that long. Personally I prefer JTDX but WSJT-Z has a lot to offer. Especially the filters are nice to use when aiming for a specific goal. I certainly will install this new version...

    1. Good morning Bas,

      "No op, 2 Radios" :-)
I rarely use the automated functions anymore - I just don't trust that the software won't hiccup and put the rig into a key-down condition or something equally harmful. I see stations on FT8 sometimes calling CQ repeatedly without answering any of the numerous responders and I think "That's a bot". I don't want to be that station. But I do like the filtering capabilities and wonder why they haven't been implemented into WSJT-X.

  3. How does this compare to JTDX?
Been using that for a few years now.
