Two ATNO opportunities coming up

Potential New Ones (PNO's) #329 and #330 will be on the air soon; one will be an almost-sure thing, the other will be tough.

I expect to work W8S Swains Island on several bands. They begin on 10 March for two weeks.

Much more difficult will be 9N7AM Nepal, on the air from 9-16 February. In my 42 years in this hobby I've never even heard Nepal once.

A few DXpeditions go there from time to time, keeping them off the Super-Rare list that would justify a mega-DXpedition with typically excellent antennas.

Both teams have very experienced DXpedition operators, QRO power and decent antennas so I'm hoping for a good outcome.

Good luck to all who need either of these entities.

  1. Hello John, strange you never heard Nepal before on the bands. I checked my log and found I worked 5 different calls from 9N7. One in 2006, 3 in 2015 and 1 in 2017. All on different bands. But it might be more difficult to work Nepal from the USA. Swains Isl. will be a tough one for me, Pacific is always difficult from here. But we'll try. 73, Bas

    1. Hi Bas - I think of Nepal as the most activated country I've never worked. It's a tough path from here...so was S21 and A5 but I eventually got them both so I'm reserving a bit of hope for 9N. I'll have to play with VOACAP and see what it thinks is my best chance. Good luck to you with Swains.

      73 - John
