Good prop on 40m tonight?

My 30-80m dipole came down a few days ago during a long period of high winds. This morning, the winds had calmed and the DJI Phantom was doing its thing - flying up and over the tall pine, dropping a line to haul the dipole back up to its lofty perch.

The first test of the new installation - at 2:30pm my time - netted a 40m contact with DL3YCX. It's rare that I work (or even hear) Europeans in the mid-afternoon so either the antenna is infused with mojo or the low bands will be uncommonly hot tonight. I'm happy either way.

  1. Very nice catch for an afternoon On 40m I have been on in the early mornings on 30m and have seen decent DX.

    1. Very atypical for that time of day, at least at my QTH. And I'm sure we'll run into each other on the waterfall eventually Mike.

    1. After posting this, several other EU stations were copied on both 40 and 60 meters during the early afternoon here.

  3. I saw you were spotted on 60m as well. Unfortunately I was asleep. 73, Bas

    1. I think the next version of WSJT will have a "wake up" feature - when a specific station is called, the PC turns on all the lights in the house ;-)

    2. I'm working on a solution John. But all lights on is a bit too far. I was more thinking about my FT8 robot. You'll probabely don't notice if I'm sleeping or not when I make the QSO with you...;-) 73, Bas

    3. Excellent idea, Bas - make QSOs and still get our beauty sleep (I need mine)...!
